For nearly a year and a half, we have been working on a project to double the size of our church camp from one acre all the way up to two acres. Our postage stamp church camp is often stuffed with fifty to one hundred campers. We really needed to do something to help the Colombian church with this project. So one year ago, we committed ourselves to raising $12,000 to cover the cost of half of this lot and Martin Sanders, another missionary committed himself to raising the other half. This month we are committed to paying the full amount to the owner, or we risk losing the lot and the money we have invested so far in this project.
During the course of the year, we actually raised the full amount in dollars, only to fall significantly short of what was needed because of the collapsing value of the US dollar. As the year passed, the dollar lost more than twenty percent of its value. As a result, by this time, as we need to pay off the camp, we still need $3,000 to finish the payment; and that is if the dollar does not lose too much more value as we wait. We have the month of December to pay of the remainder of what we owe, so please consider making a special donation to the camp fund so that we can pay the owner and transfer the deed after the first of the year. Mark the coupon with this newsletter and help make our postage stamp church camp the size of a typical country building lot in the States.
