We do have a trip planned for the summer of 2012:

August 3-14, 2012 (dates not set in stone yet) we are partnering with DeWayne Liebrandt of deaf ministries. This will be a construction work crew, but not all jobs will be heavy or hard work. We can use people of all ages and skills to work on this project.

Directly sharing your faith with the Colombians will be difficult unless you are fluent in Spanish and their culture. Our trips are most often Christian service trips where you witness indirectly through your actions instead of by directly telling them through your voice. Often the the best testimony, as an American Christian, is to give of your time and money to build/repair/teach/help those less fortunate in Colombia. By giving of your time and money to build a building, repair a school, or volunteer in a clinic, you're showing Colombians the true meaning of Christianity - putting others ahead of yourself. Even the lost are amazed that someone is willing to pay to come down and work and they start to ask questions. Often we have many of the workers start attending church after work crews have visited, not because of the direct sharing of the Gospel by word, but by putting it into action.

We can have others come, RN, MD, etc, if possible we'd prefer to plan a trip with them separately and focus on medical for the entire trip. Due to the lack of interpreters, we usually try to keep our groups small and focused on one area. If you can find even 3-4 people of the medical field to come down, we can put together more than enough work to fill their time while they're in Colombia!

As far as travel: we have member pay $850 to cover costs in Colombia (any extra is used for the project) and each individual purchases their own airfare separately. We started doing this because we have people coming from all over the country and sometimes only certain airlines leave from certain areas. So we tell everyone to arrive on a specific date because all flights from the US arrive in Colombia within about an hour of each other. We also have every member raise $500 to help with the project costs, whether building, medical or other.

So far in February we have 8-12 (we work with another missionary and I'm not positive how many are coming with him from 2-4). We can accommodate a few more people into this group. We do try to keep the groups small for planning/travel purposes. We also allow for church groups to come by themselves if they want to, so if you have enough people interested from your church you can plan a trip down whenever it works best for you, as long as we can plan to be in Colombia at that time (usually Feb-Aug is the best time).

See the poster in the resources section for amount for trips. You can plan a trip with just your church, please inquire with us for possible date options. Generally Feb-Aug work best for us.

I am interested in the February trip. How can I learn more? As being sent ones, how do we "rub shoulders" with the people of Colombia? Interactions? Witnessing? In essence, will we be sharing Christ with the lost, or is this just a work trip? As a Christian trip - I would assume that there should be opportunities to share our faith as see people grow as well as see the sent grow.

There are others from my church that may be interested. Would this trip be appropriate for MDs, RNs, Optomotrists? There are a few in our church that have been on mission trips through the Christian Medical Dental Association - Global Health Outreach.

How many people are you sending in Feb.? How many spots are still available? Who lines up airfare? CCM? Do we all travel together?

Thank you.

My name is Darcy. I am planning on going on the winter 2012 trip. I am with the group from Bethlehem Church of Christ, Winchester, Ohio. Could you let me know what I will need to have as far as immunizations? Others in the group had the same question. I will pass it on. Thank you.

Hey Guys,
I just spoke with Wendy Childress about her mission trip to Columbia and it sounded great. I was wondering if I could get a little more info on the trip.
How much $ is a week long trip?
Do you have any spots available for late June Early July 2012?
Can I bring a group as big as 35 or 40?
What are typical weeks like as far as service?
You can feel free to call me for info instead of writing all of that. 5173328044.
Or if you have a link that I couldn't find on the website.

We still have a few openings for this summer 2011 trip and a lot for the winter 2012. The cost breakdown can be found in the "how much will it cost" tab in the menu above.
