Book of the Centuries Club
November, as the month of Thanksgiving, has traditionally been our month to present our publication and translation ministries.
In our efforts to get the Bible into the hands of interested people and new Christians, we subsidize Bibles and work with others to translate, publish, and distribute teaching materials of all kinds to Colombians of all ages.
Over the years, we have attempted to provide Bibles at a price anyone can afford by making certain that no one would have to pay more than one week’s wages in order to purchase a Bible. We do this by subsidizing the cost of the Bible in accordance with incomes in the town or region. We also publish Sunday school literature for the children of Colombia, who would not receive anything if it were not for this ministry. We also work to translate and publish teaching material for Christian growth and leadership training. Our most recent project is Dr. Jack Cottrell’s “Faith Once for All†into Spanish for use as the primary theology text in our Bible College program.
But each of these efforts involves significant cost. We can subsidize Bibles, print Sunday school materials, and translate then print or purchase teaching materials only as funds are available. We have such easy access to such materials in English, so as a way of celebrating our thanks to God for these blessings, why not give thanks this year by
helping to provide this blessing to others?
As we all pause and give thanks to God for His many blessings, why not express your thanks to our Lord for your many blessings by blessing others through the gift of God’s word? You can contribute to our literature ministry and become a member of our “Book of the Centuries†club by simply giving a love offering to this ministry. Then instead of receiving a book each month, you will be placing Bibles and other Christian teaching literature into the hands of new Christians in Colombia. You will help provide Bibles for those who cannot afford them, leadership training materials to help train the current and future leaders of the Colombian Church, and you will help provide literature and materials to the children at many of the churches in Colombia.
If you would like to become a member of the book of the centuries club please fill out the coupon on the following page and mail it to us. It costs about $10 to subsidize a Bible, $5 for a leadership training book and about 50 cents per student for Sunday School material (average $30-$50 per church per Sunday). Join the Book of the Centuries Club!
Memorial Gift
A generous donation was made in memory of Geneva Baynes by her family and the Sycamore Church of Christ. This donation will help with the building of the new church in Soacha, Bogota.
Busy Fall Schedule
This year, for the first time in four years, I have been home in the fall in order to travel and speak at our supporting churches. It has been a real treat to travel around since the third week in September as I speak at different churches each weekend. I have enjoyed visiting many friends and get to know the new members of each church and I am always blessed by this rich fellowship. This does involve a great deal of traveling, as I have been averaging more than four thousand miles per month. But the blessings of visiting everyone are well worth the effort.
I have been looking forward to sharing all of the exciting things that God has been doing in Colombia. It is important for me to get back and inform you as to all that has been happening in the work as you are our partners in ministry. The advances in the work in Colombia are victories of your church since we are part of your missionary outreach. Plus, we simply want to thank you for your encouragement, faithfulness in support of the work, and for your prayers on our behalf. May God richly bless you for all you do for us and for the Lord’s work in Colombia.
We are also available for speaking at churches which are not regular supporters of the work. When I have an open Sunday, I am happy to travel anywhere and share what God is doing in Colombia. There are certainly opportunities for new partnerships in this ministry as we have so many open doors. Be sure to write and check for dates if you would like us to come for a speaking date.
New (used) Microscopes for Colegio Peniel
If you are looking for a great project for your Sunday School Class, small group or church, Colegio Peniel needs more microscopes and other science lab supplies.

Some of you may remember that we raised money 7 years ago to buy some used microscopes for Colegio Peniel. Back then we were able to raise money to buy 5 microscopes, which are still being used daily. Because the school has grown so much in the past 5 years and there are now more older kids attending, those microscopes have waiting lists for usage at the school and the school is in need of more. As the government of Colombia puts more and more restrictions and regulations on private schools, Colegio Peniel tries to keep up as much as they can, but occasionally they need our help. Colegio Peniel provides one of the best educations in the City of Villavicencio to the children of the very poor. Please help us help them continue to provide a quality education to these poor children that are neglected by the rest of society because of their economic class.
If your Sunday School Class, children’s church, small group or church is looking for a fall/winter/Christmas project, this is it. We would like to have the microscopes purchased and delivered to the school by February 2009 when the new school year starts. Each microscope will cost about $250 and it will cost $20 to get them down to Colombia. We are also trying to raise an additional $1000 to buy science supplies and equipment for Colegio Peniel, their physics and chemistry labs are in need of more equipment to fill the need for so many students.
We have a video about Colegio Peniel if you would like one to show to help raise funds for this project, just let us know and we’ll send it off. SusyMorris@supportCCM.com
